Working with files
File size limits, large documents, password-protected PDFs, and how BoringPDF treats your original file.
File size limits
Each file can be up to 100 MB, and the files you add to a tool at once can total up to 200 MB.
Because processing happens on your device, how quickly a job finishes depends on your computer's memory and on how complex the document is. Image-heavy PDFs need the most memory.
Large documents
- Close other memory-heavy tabs before processing a large file.
- Use Split PDF to break a very large document into parts, process each part, then Merge PDF the results.
- Use Compress PDF first if a scanned document is mostly images.
Password-protected PDFs
If a PDF is password protected, enter its password when the tool asks for it. To remove a password permanently, use Unlock PDF. To add one, use Protect PDF.
BoringPDF can't recover or bypass a password you don't know.
Your original file
BoringPDF never changes the file you add. Every result is a new file that you download. Files stay in the tool only while it's open: leaving or reloading the page clears them.
