AI Assistant

Set up Summarize PDF and Chat with PDF with your own AI provider key, and what is sent when you ask a question.

Before you start

Summarize PDF and Chat with PDF use an AI provider you choose, with your own API key. Supported providers are Google Gemini, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Groq and OpenCode Go, or any compatible endpoint you configure yourself.

Create a key in your provider's dashboard, then paste it into the tool. Usage is billed by your provider under your account.

What is sent

When you press Send, your browser sends the following directly to your provider. Nothing passes through BoringPDF.

  • text extracted from the pages you selected (the tool shows how much before you send it);
  • your question or instruction; and
  • up to six recent messages from the same conversation, for context.

Your original PDF file is never sent. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Remembering your key

By default your key is forgotten when you leave or reload the tool. Turn on Remember this key to keep it encrypted in this browser for all BoringPDF AI tools. Remove it from the key manager at any time.

Checking answers

AI answers can be incomplete or wrong. Answers cite the pages they used, so check anything important against those pages.
