Terms of Service

The rules, in plain language

These terms cover your use of BoringPDF. We've kept them short and readable, because you should know what you're agreeing to.

Last updated October 6, 2026

Using BoringPDF

BoringPDF is a free set of PDF tools that runs in your web browser. You don't need an account. By using BoringPDF, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Your documents and responsibilities

Your files stay on your device and remain yours. You're responsible for:

  • having the right to edit, convert, unlock or otherwise process each document you use with BoringPDF;
  • using the tools lawfully, for example not removing passwords from documents you aren't authorized to open; and
  • keeping a copy of your original files. BoringPDF never changes your original file, but you should keep it until you've checked the result.

Check important results

We work hard to make every tool accurate, but PDFs vary enormously. Complex layouts, unusual fonts, scanned pages or damaged files can produce results that don't exactly match the original. A converted Word file may need some touch-ups, or OCR may misread a word.

Before you rely on a result for anything important, open it and check it. In particular:

  • Redaction: confirm the hidden information is really gone before sharing the file.
  • Signatures: whether a signed document is legally binding depends on where you are and what the other party requires. BoringPDF doesn't provide legal advice.
  • PDF/A and archiving: BoringPDF output is not certified. If you need verified compliance, check the file with a dedicated validator.
  • Password protection: use a strong password. Protection is only as strong as the password you choose.

The AI Assistant

AI answers can be incomplete or wrong. Check important answers against the pages cited in your document. The Assistant can only read text; it can't edit your files or run other tools.

To use it, you connect your own account with a third-party AI provider. Your use of that provider, including its charges, rate limits, data handling and acceptable-use rules, is governed by your agreement with the provider, not by BoringPDF. See the Privacy Policy for what is shared.

Availability and changes

We may add, change or remove tools at any time. Because processing happens in your browser, a tool may not finish if your device runs out of memory or a required component can't be downloaded. If a tool fails, your original file is left untouched.

No warranty

BoringPDF is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, BoringPDF is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service, including lost data or reliance on a result you did not check.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use BoringPDF after an update means you accept the new terms.
